Hebrews 12: 28-29
Worship – How we are created to praise God
Going to church does not save us, but we are called by God to gather together. The temptation for many is to use the resources that are found online or elsewhere but skip the idea of going to church. Church is where true worship as a community of believers occurs. It is where ministry can happen in a way different than any individual or small group can deliver.
As we grow closer to Jesus Christ, we should develop a desire to worship God, receive His Word, and celebrate with other believers. In fact, it is not just a nice suggestion but something the Bible tells us is God’s will for us.
Hebrews 12:28-29 shows us that worship is expressing our thankfulness towards God for what he has given us. A lot of times we relate worship to singing songs, which is definitely a form of worship. But that is not all that worship consists of. Worshipping is a never-ending process that we are to do daily, throughout the day. It never ends, recognizing God in his power and goodness. In John, we are told to worship in Spirit and in Truth. When it comes to the truth part, it refers to the coming of Jesus, that truth centers on who he is as a person and the work he completed, Jesus even says in John 14:6 that he is the Truth itself! So, worshipping the truth is referring to who we are to worship. Worshipping in spirit refers to the connection we are to have with God each and every time we worship. To recognize why we believe what we believe and allow that truth to ignite and energize our lives.
