Week of 10/18/2015 - Go and Tell

Preparation

SESSION OVERVIEW

As the father of an Army soldier, the word war has become very personal to me. When I hear the word, I know that there is a possibility that my son will soon be in harms way to take care of other soldiers in harms way. War always calls for sacrifice and always includes destruction.

Often, we forget there is a constant war taking place all around us that leaves in it’s wake a path of destruction: a war between God and Satan for the hearts of man. As humans, we are born on the opposing side of God, enemies of God. It’s who we are. It is our nature because of the fall of mankind. But because of Christ, many of us have been reconciled or have now made our peace with God. Now on His side, we are called not to war, but called to be peacemakers. Making peace between others who are enemies, by nature, with the God who loves them. “Blessed are the peacemakers” rings loud with who we are at The Fountains. We care enough for the lost to Invest and Invite and share our story so that others may live in the war free zone of grace.

KEY PASSAGE

Matthew 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

GOAL FOR THIS SESSION

Every person at The Fountains, who calls themselves a follower of Christ, must be passionate about reaching those who don’t yet follow Christ.

KEY POINTS

  1. The need for Peacemakers, indicates there is a war. We are to go into our world because Hell is real.
  2. If you decide to live for Jesus not everyone will be excited. Sometimes other Christians get offended when we start being passionate for Jesus.
  3.  The Fountains must be passionate about letting the light of the gospel shine for all to see.

LEADERSHIP 101

In an “I am okay Your okay society” it is often difficult for us to remember that there is a war taking place. Often we misjudge people as they seem to have their lives all together. They may be just as fooled as we are. Satan loves nothing better than to lulls us into a state delusion that everything is just fine. The reality is, those in this subversive war are not only enemies of God but in danger of a very real hell. It is easy to for most to embrace the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:17 that we are new creations in Christ, but from verse 18 through 21 we learn that we have moved from enemies to ambassadors. We are now newly created as peacemakers. “Son, and daughters, of God”. Our goal as ambassadors is to reconcile others who are at odds with God to God. “as though God were making his appeal through us”. None of us are saved to go to heaven alone instead we are to take as many others with us as we can.

NEXT STEPS

Help your Group identify and take their next steps with Jesus. Pray with them and for them. Ask them about their next steps later this week.

  • Have you recognized your need for God and are you at war with God and you didn’t realize it?
  • Is your Next Step taking your first step and giving your heart to Christ?
  • Do you have a “Hit list” of people you are praying for and doing life with in order that they may come to know Christ?

Your next step maybe to write a hit list of people God is laying on your hear to share the gospel with.

  • Do you ever think about people around the world who need Christ?

You next Step may be to begin praying for our work in Myanmar and other missionaries carrying the food news around the world.
