Discussion Questions

Matthew 5:14-16 14 - “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
  • Have you ever considered your life has the ability as a light to leads others to Jesus?  

  • Who is the source of our light?  

  • Influencers influence. How are some specific action you can do to shine your light to show Gods goodness to others?  

Acts 16:26-30 - Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”  The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 
  •  Paul told the jailer that his household would be saved. Do you remember how the pastor explained this word household? A Sphere of Influence. 

Mark 5:19 - Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 
  • God has put people in your life on purpose. 

  • Who is your People, your sphere of influence? 

  • Paul told the jailer that his household would be saved. Do you remember how the pastor explained this word household? A Sphere of Influence. 

  • God has determined our exact time, place and purpose to let our light shine. Do you look at your vocation as a way to pay bills or a place of ministry?   

READ Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.  

  • Our passions are determined by what we delight in. What do you delight in? 

  • If we are delighting in our relationship with God what will be the desire of our heart?  

Colossians 4:5-6 - Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. (NIV) 
  • How does our actions determine the brightness of our light?  

Ephesians 5:15-16 - So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. (NLT) 
  • What are the opportunities Paul is talking about here?  

  • Have you ever had a missed opportunity?  

1 Peter 3:15b - “…Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…” (NIV) 
  • What makes our message different from every other message out in society today?  

Next Steps

  • Realize that God is working through you to shine his light to the those around you. Where you are is your place of ministry. 

  • Keep your actions a true reflection of love and hope and be alert to moment to shine bright in the lives of others.
