Week of 9.2.18

Week 1: The Game Plan – Growing People Change

Most of the time, we let the things we care about in life determine our own value & worth. God wants us to view life differently. Because He values us, that changes what we value. When you begin to understand WHO truly values you, and HOW MUCH He values you, it begins to change what matters to you. In other words, Your value determines your values. Your worth defines what is worthwhile. Because you are loved, God wants you to grow. At TFF, we believe that GROWING PEOPLE CHANGE.

  1. Sunday’s message helped us to understand why GROWING PEOPLE CHANGE. Take a few moments to talk about some key takeaways from the message.

  1. Read 1 John 4:16-19. This passage explains how God loved us first and God loves us most. What does the Apostle John tell us to do with God’s love?

  1. Read 1 John 3:16-18. Based on these verses, how would you define “real love?” What would “fake love” look like?

  1. In the message, the pastor stated: “Many of us have a relationship with Jesus, it just isn’t a healthy one.” Do you agree or disagree? What attitudes toward God or people would reflect an unhealthy relationship with God?

  1. Do you feel like “experiencing God’s love” is a normal thing for you, or something that rarely happens? How do you know if you are experiencing God’s love?

  1. Do you feel like you “show God’s love” to others in a good way? What is one way you do this? Also try to think about where God wants you to grow in love. Say it out loud and commit to trust God even more this week.

As you think about your “next step” in your relationship with Jesus, what do you know you need to do? Do you need to Trust God more, set aside time to experience God more, or show God’s love more to the people in your life? Tell the group the specific step you will take to trust, experience or show God’s love in a greater way this week.

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
