Easter Weekend 2025

Life Group Discussion Guide

Introduction

The story of Easter is the story of the greatest comeback of all time. Jesus had been crucified and was dead. Three days later he defeated death and rose again. But this event was not Jesus’ comeback but by his death and resurrection he provided a way for our greatest comeback.

Discussion Questions

  1. Have you ever made a choice you thought was good at the time only to realize that it was that decision that led to your failure?

    • According to the message, after Jesus’ death and burial, how did the disciples believed Jesus had failed them and how they had failed? If you were one of the disciples, how would you have felt?

  2. Sometimes failure happen to us. Some sometimes we create our own failure. But we have all had failure of some kind. You may be in the middle of failure right now.

    • How did or does failure make you feel?

    • Did you or do you believe that you would or will ever overcome this failure?

    • If your failure was self-imposed, did you accept responsibility for the failure or did you blame others?

    • What would you tell someone who is experiencing failure?

  3. Pastor said, “Our setback is setup for our comeback.”

    • What does this statement mean to you?

    • How does the resurrection of Jesus make our failure temporary and not final?

  4. Pastor said, “When your past is allowed to dominate your present, it stifles your ability to pursue God’s plan for your future.”

    • How do we allow failure to define us?

    • Pastor said, “You can choose to be defined by your mistakes or be defined by Jesus”.

    Read Romans 6:4

... And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

    • How does Jesus’ death and resurrection repurpose failure?

    Read 1 Corinthians 5:17

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

  5. What does this verse say to you?

  6. If you are experiencing failure now how can this group help you?

“Our setback is setup for our comeback.”

Because of Jesus Death in our place and resurrection from the grave our failure isn’t final. We don’t have to live our lives defined by it. The failure that I used to be ashamed of are now proof of Jesus’ power. Even in the midst of failure we can learn and lean into the hope that Jesus rising from the grave imparts to us.

Romans 6:4

... And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
